About this site
Price sources and update schedule
One supplier series, reviewed weekly, published as it changes. The as-of date is when the price last changed, not the date you read it.
Last reviewed 28 October 2026
Source
The prices are private-investor reference prices for physical metal from our metals supplier, quoted in US dollars per kilogram of metal. The same supplier series is the price basis of other publications covering private metal purchases. Our current figures are dated 27 October 2026.
Update schedule
- Review: the supplier reviews prices weekly.
- Publication: we update the site when the supplier changes a price. Outside major market events prices often stay unchanged for weeks or months.
- Two dates on every page: "Price as of" is the date the price was set; "checked" is the last date we confirmed it was still current (28 October 2026 for this edition).
- No automatic feed: figures are entered by hand, so a change is reviewed before it goes live.
What the series covers
| Group | Metals |
|---|---|
| Rare earths | Dysprosium, Neodymium, Praseodymium, Terbium |
| Technology metals | Gallium, Germanium, Hafnium, Indium, Rhenium, Antimony, Bismuth, Tellurium |
The series does not cover the other 13 rare earths. Where a page needs one, it uses a USGS annual average and says so.
Year-to-date and since-2020 change
Year-to-date change is the move since 1 January of the current year. Since-2020 change is the move since January 2020. Antimony, bismuth and tellurium have no since-2020 figure because the supplier series for them starts later.
How it differs from a market benchmark
A reference price for physical metal in small lots is usually higher than the wholesale oxide benchmarks that Argus, Fastmarkets and Asian Metal publish. For dysprosium, USGS reports a 2025 average oxide price of $239 per kg; our reference price for metal is about 9 times that. Do not treat the gap as a trading spread. Each price page sets the two side by side.
