What is moving the praseodymium price
Priced with neodymium as NdPr
Praseodymium and neodymium come from the same ores and are usually sold together as NdPr oxide. USGS puts the 2025 averages at $74 per kg for praseodymium oxide (99.99%), $73 for neodymium oxide and $69 for NdPr oxide (99%). Praseodymium metal at $182.21 is +26.45% year to date against +16.85% for neodymium.
Magnet demand is the market
Praseodymium is a substitute for part of the neodymium in NdFeB magnets and an additive in magnet alloys, so demand follows neodymium. It is not on the April 2025 Chinese export list, and the wider October 2025 list was suspended for one year.
A thin metal market
Most praseodymium is sold as oxide inside NdPr. Praseodymium metal is traded in small lots, so the reference price is more sensitive to individual orders than the oxide benchmarks that USGS reports.

What is NdPr?
NdPr is the combined neodymium-praseodymium oxide that mines and separators sell as one product, because the two elements occur together and go into the same magnets. USGS reported a 2025 average of $69 per kg for NdPr oxide (99%).
Why is praseodymium priced above neodymium?
In the reference table praseodymium is $182.21 against $174.45 for neodymium, a 1.0x ratio. The oxide averages are within $1 of each other in the USGS data, so the spread in metal is mostly a small-lot effect.
